The ai4genes workshops were incepted in 2023 as part of an NSF CAREER proposal awarded to Professor Gerald Quon at UC Davis. The broad mission of ai4genes is to:
- Inspire high school students to pursue careers in STEM
- Increase awareness of careers combining computer science and life sciences to study biology and medicine
- Provide a hands-on, practical research experience to students
